Kandy, Sri Lanka’s Hill capital is the famed Sri Dalada Maligawa located, also known as the Temple of the Tooth. It houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Buddha. The famous garden in which includes more than 4000 species of lovely flowers, herbs, tall trees and renowned for its collection of orchids is the Royal Botanical Gardens located in Peradeniya.

What To Expect

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
In the crown jewel of the city, Kandy is the famed Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Temple of the Tooth. The golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth houses Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist relic – a tooth of the Buddha. The entire temple complex, from peaked tiled roofs to white walls with large airy windows, is built using classical Kandyan architecture.

Royal Botanical Gardens
These stunning gardens were once reserved exclusively for Kandyan royalty. Today, even commoners are allowed in to enjoy the most impressive and largest (60 hectares) botanic gardens in Sri Lanka.
Highlights include a fine collection of orchids, a stately avenue of royal palms, the extraordinary, aptly named cannonball fruit tree and 40m-high Burma bamboo.
