What To Expect

Colombo Fort Railway Station

You will be starting your tour at 3:00 pm at a meeting point at the Fort Railway Station. Your guide will pick you up from there and take you to the Pettah market. The market sprawls over a huge area with different streets and zones allocated to different types of goods, such as clothes, electronics and other items. After spending approximately half an hour browsing the little roadside-stalls, you will be traveling to the region of Colombo 07. As you will be using a bus, which are somewhat different from those you may see in your home countries, it will be a unique experience for you.

Your guide will take you to see some of the historic locations in that area. Your tour will include visits to the Colombo Municipal Council, the Cinnamon Gardens Baptist Church, the Viharamahadevi Park, the Colombo General Hospital, and the Cinnamon Gardens Post Office. Each has its own history and story and your guide will tell you about them.

He will also tell you more about Colombo’s colonial era as you travel towards your next destination. You will be stopping at Gangarama Temple, where you will get see the interior of this hallowed space. After viewing the marvelous architecture of this temple, built over the lake, you will be traveling to Crescat Boulevard by bus.

You will get there by approximately 5:00 pm. The Boulevard has a collection of classy brand-name and local stores, and boutiques. Feel free to do some quick shopping. Your guide will be a happy to show you some of the best stores.

At 5:45 pm you will be leaving the Boulevard and enjoying a nice brisk walk to the nearby beach. When you get there, the sun will be about to start its swift descent into the sea. You can sit down with a drink and enjoy the view of the tropical sunsets of Sri Lanka.

As the darkness falls, a number of street food stalls pop up along the edges.You will be able to try up to 3 different flavors as part of your tour inclusions. Included in this will be famous Sri Lankan delicacies such as Hoppers, Koththu, and others.

After a relaxed tasting session, you will be completing your tour.
